Counseling approaches

Motivational Interviewing: Motivational interviewing is a type of counseling that assists individuals in resolving ambivalent feelings and insecurities. It helps them to discover their internal motivation, which is necessary for them to change their behavior. This counseling process is practical, empathetic, and short-term, and it recognizes the challenges that people face when making life changes.

Trauma-Informed Care: Trauma Informed Care seeks to acknowledge the effects of trauma in a person’s life and to provide supportive care that both makes people feel safe and avoids re-traumatization.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a type of talking therapy. It is a common treatment for a range of mental health problems. CBT teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.

Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R): CT-R applies broadly to individuals experiencing extensive behavioral, social, and physical health challenges. CT-R is highly collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based and focuses on developing and strengthening positive beliefs of purpose, hope, efficacy, empowerment, and belonging.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): is a type of psychotherapy that emphasizes taking action to achieve your goals and values, even in the presence of negative thoughts and emotions. It draws from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Instead of avoiding or struggling with difficult emotions, clients learn to acknowledge and accept them as natural responses to life situations. By doing so, they can move forward and live a more fulfilling life.
